IWA. IRISH CHAMPIONSHIPS, DOUBLE SUCCESS.

The Irish Championships took place yesterday.  Not exactly the highlight of my year but an event I have to play in to play in International Events.

Not a great entry again but a few new players which is encouraging.  The two events, 8 and 9 Ball were played in the one day which made for a very late finish (just before midnight to be exact).  In the 8 Ball Final I played Tom Hynes from Galway.  He played the best I have every seen him play at the start and went into a 4 – 0 lead which surprised me but I didnt really do much wrong so was not too concerned.  I took a time out at that stage and it was a different story, won the next rack which avoided the dreaded whitewash.  From then it was a different match, I came back to win 5-4. Not a win that particularly bothers me when I won this so may times already but I am pleased with the way I battled to win that match.

Next was 9 Ball and I won all matches easily with no problems.   Tom again got to the final, I beat him 7-4 this time, an awful table made it a strange match but two more titles was what I was there for so now my full attention goes to the big one! The European Championships in a few weeks.  IWA have announced today that the Irish Wheelchair Team for this event, is not surprisingly Myself and Tom Hynes, it is a bit of a surprise to me that there was not one more player selected but that decision is up to the National Selector's and out of my control.
