Fred was narrowly defeated in the final
of the Dublin Inivitational Tournament. The biggest 9-ball tournament
to be staged in the capital.
Fred Dinsmore who is the current European
9-ball wheelchair champion, which he won in Prague early this year
was proving to hot to handle for most players, in both the group
and knockout stages.
The ¼-finals saw the Dublin cueist overcome the challenge
of John Magee from Mayo winning 9 racks to 6, and then Fred
(Runner-up) defeated Paul Bonner from Donegal on the same score-
line 9-6.
The final had lived up to all the expectations with both players
firing on all cylinders, but it was the County Down player, Paddy McLaughlin, who raced
into a 6-2 lead with some wonderful displays of potting, but Fred
got to grips with himself and levelled the match at 7 racks each.
But then Paddy held his nerve and got over the winners line on a
9-7 victory.
