SLOVAKIAN OPEN INTERNATIONAL (DANUBE CUP) APRIL 2008.

My first trip to Slovakia and a chance to continue to build on the successful Belgian Event.

It was an 8 Ball event, with a lot of the top European players invited, it was held mainly by the Organisers to give the inexperienced Slovakian players a chance to play and hopefully learn from the top players, but it was an event we all wanted to win as its always nice to be the first winner of a new International.

I played the group matches on Satuday and was undefeated, playing very well, I was never challenged, winning 5-0, 5-1, and 5-3 against Matej Brajkovic from Slovenia being my most difficult match.

In the Quarter Final I was drawn against Miroslav Benko, the Slovakian Number 1, I played well and won 5-0 I didnt really give him a chance to get involved in the match.

In the Semi Final I played the reigning European 8 Ball Champion, Danny Luton from England.  This is always a match that I think we both want to win, more than most other matches, he missed a couple of early chances and I eventually won 6-3.  I was in another final.

The other semi final was between Kurt deKlerck and Emil Schranz from Austria, it went all the way, I saw the end of it, Emil held his nerve for a brilliant 6-5 win.

The Final was a strange match.  Emil seemed to give up, I dont know if he didnt think he could win as I have a good record against him, or if it was a "hangover" from his great win in the semi final, but he went for and missed some strange shots and I came home an easy 7-1 winner.

I was very happy to be back winning again at last, I am looking forward to hopefully building on this excellent win.
